Never heard of Patreon? Think of it as my members-only space for readers who want more. It's a platform that lets you support the creators you love, and in return, you get access you won't find anywhere else.
My Patreon is my little corner of the internet, built just for readers. That means monthly book club reads, chapter-by-chapter discussions together, sneak peeks at what I'm working on, and depending on your tier, a direct line to me.

Getting Started
Do I need a Patreon account to join?
Yes — all membership content, community chat, and discussion posts live on Patreon. Creating a Patreon account is free; you only pay for your chosen membership tier.

How do I choose the right tier?
It depends on how involved you want to be! Here's a quick summary:
- Keep Reading Book Club ($3/mo) — Great if you want to follow along with the monthly read and join the community conversation.
- Full Book Club Experience ($8/mo) — Adds an ebook download of the month's book selection to the Keep Reading Book Club tier.
- The Flock ($19/mo) — A more intimate experience with early access, sneak peeks, and the private Flock Lounge chat.
- The Backstage Pass ($30/mo) — The most access, including direct chat with Kate, behind-the-scenes content, and a quarterly Q&A (schedule permitting).
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, so don't worry about picking the perfect plan on day one.
What happens after I join?
After joining, you'll receive a welcome email with links to the community, your first book club details, and any resources included with your tier. You'll also gain immediate access to Patreon Chat and any member-only posts.
We recommend heading to the chat to introduce yourself — we love meeting new members!
I didn't receive a welcome email. What do I do?
First, check your spam or promotions folder — our emails occasionally end up there. If you still can't find it:
- Make sure the email address on your Patreon account is correct.
- Add patreon@katestewartwrites.com to your contacts so future emails don't get filtered.
- Reach out to us at patreon@katestewartwrites.com, and we'll resend it.
The Book Club
How does the book club work?
Each month, Kate chooses a new book to discuss for the upcoming month — sometimes one of her own, sometimes a favorite, or even a book that inspired her writing. We read together at our own pace, with chapter-by-chapter discussion posts going up on Patreon so you can follow along without spoilers.
All Keep Reading Book Club members and above are eligible to participate in discussions. The book club selection is announced prior to the start of the next month and can be found in the Book Club collection.
What if I fall behind or miss a month?
You're welcome to catch up at any point throughout the current month — discussion posts are available until the end of the month. On the first of each month, the previous month's chat is cleared to make room for the new book, so we encourage you to jump in whenever you can before then.
Where do I find the current book?
The monthly book announcement is pinned at the top of the Patreon page and included in your member email at the start of each month. You can also find it in the #book-club chat channel.
How do giveaways work?
Monthly giveaways are available to The Flock members and above ($19/mo+). To enter, simply leave a comment on the giveaway post. Winners are selected at random using Comment Picker, and results are announced in the same post.
One entry per person per giveaway. Winners are contacted via Patreon message.
What is the Flock Lounge?
The Flock Lounge is a private chat channel exclusively for The Flock ($19/mo) and Backstage Pass ($30/mo) members. It's a more intimate, smaller-group space for deeper conversation — think of it as the VIP room of the community.
What is the Backstage Pass chat?
The Backstage Pass chat is exclusively for Backstage Pass members ($30/mo). It's where you get the most direct access to Kate — for Q&A, behind-the-scenes conversations, and content you won't find anywhere else.
Membership & Perks
What shop perks are included with my membership?
Perks may include member-exclusive pricing, early access to new releases, or special bundles — and these can change over time as new things are added. The most up-to-date details will always be included in your welcome email and in member posts on Patreon.
Perks are available only to active members and are automatically linked to your account via your email address.
Do I need to create a separate account on Kate's website?
You don't need to — a new account is created automatically for you, or your existing account is updated with your tier-level access. You may use your katestewartwrites.com account to easily track orders or access member pricing. Your perks are applied automatically once your emails match.
Am I eligible to receive a signed copy of the next new release?
To receive a signed copy of Kate's next new release, you must be an active member for at least 60 days before the release date.
If you upgrade from The Flock to The Backstage Pass, you'll receive a 30-day credit toward that requirement — meaning you'll only need to wait 30 days from your upgrade date to be eligible for the next release, instead of restarting the 60-day count.
I purchased or received a gifted membership. Will my shop perks work automatically?
Not always. Gifted memberships don't reliably connect your email address to your account on katestewartwrites.com, which means your shop perks and discounts may not activate automatically.
If you have a gifted membership, please email patreon@katestewartwrites.com, and we'll manually connect your account so you can access your discounts and other perks.
Do I need to update my mailing address anywhere?
Yes — please make sure your current mailing address is up to date in both your Patreon account and your katestewartwrites.com account. This ensures any physical items (like signed books) are sent to the right place.
How do I upgrade my membership tier?
You can upgrade directly from the Patreon app or website:
- Go to your Home page.
- Tap Memberships.
- Select Kate Stewart.
- Tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Select Your Membership.
- If upgrade spots are available, you'll see an Upgrade option.
Tier spots are sometimes limited, so if you don't see an Upgrade option right away, check back periodically — spots open up as they become available.
Billing & Membership Management
When will I be charged?
You're charged immediately when you first join, then on the same date each month. For example, if you join on the 12th, you'll be charged on the 12th of every month going forward.
Can I upgrade my tier?
Yes! You can upgrade at any time from your Patreon settings under Memberships. Your new benefits activate immediately, and you'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the current billing period.
Can I downgrade my tier?
Absolutely. You can downgrade at any time. The change will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle, so you'll keep your current tier's benefits until then.
Can I pause my membership?
Patreon allows you to pause your membership for up to three months. During a pause, you won't be charged and you won't have access to member content. Your membership resumes automatically after the pause period ends.
To pause, go to your Patreon account settings and select Manage next to your membership.
Can I cancel?
Of course — no hard feelings, and no hoops to jump through. You can cancel at any time from your Patreon account. Your access will continue through the end of the current billing period.

I canceled and want to rejoin. Will my perks reactivate?
Yes! When you rejoin and your membership is active, your perks reactivate automatically — as long as you use the same email address as before. If anything doesn't look right after rejoining, reach out to us at patreon@katestewartwrites.com and we'll take a look.
What payment methods does Patreon accept?
Patreon accepts most major credit and debit cards, as well as PayPal. Payment method questions are best directed to Patreon support directly at support.patreon.com, as we don't have access to your billing information.
Technical & Account Help
Why does my email address matter so much?
Your membership perks — including any exclusive access or discounts in Kate's Shopify store — are connected automatically by matching the email address on your Patreon account with the one you use on katestewartwrites.com.
If those two emails don't match, your perks won't activate. It's the one technical thing that makes the whole system work, so it's worth double-checking before you shop!
I signed up with Apple ID ("Hide My Email"). Will my perks work?
This is a really common one, so don't worry — we can fix it! Apple's "Hide My Email" feature creates a private relay address (something like xyz123@privaterelay.appleid.com) instead of using your real email. That relay address is what Patreon registers, which means it won't automatically match your shop account.
Here's what to do:
- Find the relay email address Patreon has on file for you. You can check this in your Patreon account settings under Email.
- Contact us at patreon@katestewartwrites.com with your relay address and the email you use on katestewartwrites.com.
- We'll manually pair your accounts so your perks activate correctly.
Alternatively, you can update your Patreon account to use your real email address instead of the Apple relay, which will resolve the issue automatically going forward.
My emails match, but my shop perks still aren't working. Help!
It can occasionally take a few minutes for the connection to sync after joining or changing tiers. If it's been more than 15 minutes and things still aren't working, reach out to us at patreon@katestewartwrites.com and we'll get it sorted right away.
I can't access content I should have with my tier. What do I do?
Try these steps first:
- Log out of Patreon and log back in — this refreshes your access.
- Make sure your payment has processed successfully (check your Patreon billing history).
- If you're accessing content on a browser, try clearing your cache or using a private/incognito window.
If none of those work, reach out to us at patreon@katestewartwrites.com and we'll investigate.
I need to update the email address on my Patreon account. Will that break anything?
It might temporarily, if your shop account uses your old email. After updating your Patreon email:
- Update your katestewartwrites.com account to use the same new email.
- Allow up to 15 minutes for the systems to re-sync.
- If perks don't reactivate, contact us at patreon@katestewartwrites.com and we'll manually re-pair your accounts.
